Dear Eugenia,
Have you seen this website (http://www.grefpac.org/legal_actions.html) for The Georgia Real Estate Fraud Prevention and Awareness Coalition (GREFPAC). According to their website, this coalition “is comprised of concerned individuals and professionals from all aspects of the real estate industry, working together with federal, state and local regulators and law enforcement agencies, to create environments that promote honesty, openness & fairness in real estate transactions.”
You were apparently at ground zero for mortgage fraud. This article (http://realtytimes.com/rtpages/20050930_feignedoccupancy.htm) indicates that more claims of mortgage fraud were filed in Georgia than any other state.
I hope this information helps you.
Blessings,
Cynthia
