Little Things

Little Things

It is not just having my excellent credit gone or going to the soup kitchen or even walking and walking to save subway fare. There are other things that upset me about my new life, the impoverished life I can’t quite get used to. Sometimes I have to wait to buy milk or yogurt or cheese or a soft drink. And I have to take a long time to get a new haircut. It’s doing away with the things that I once considered normal and basic. This hurts more than I ever could have imagined.
